Easter is a very special time at the Dog and Doublet, our traditional inn located in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside. All around us, the signs of spring are emerging. Daffodils bloom and the hanging baskets are filled and raised – rather like our pints! We love to hear the soft sound of wood on leather, as the cricket season starts just across the road from us.
Walking has grown massively in popularity over the last couple of years, and people have sought out short breaks where they can indulge in this healthy pastime. Don their walking boots, stride off into the unknown, immerse themselves in nature, whatever the weather and take in stunning views. It’s uplifting and it’s a great appetite builder!
It’s that time of year when the kids have returned to school, the harvest is in sight and the nights are drawing in fast. But don’t be downhearted as the summer fades, a great short break and a bit of “you” time is just about to be gin… and we’ll make sure you’ll be ale right on the night, too!
Treat the grown-ups, extend date night into date overnight, get the girls together or spend time with the lads – we’ve got some thirst-quenching suggestions, right on our doorstep.
Dive into the Dog & Doublet for your next family break
School’s (almost) out for summer 2021 and you’re looking forward to spending some family time together, away from home, that will be a treat for the kids and the grown-ups too. But all we’re hearing about is how difficult it is to book a family summer holiday, with the usual UK holiday resorts in high demand, and commanding high prices too.
Let us help you! Here in landlocked Staffordshire is a charming country inn, a characterful family-friendly hotel, with comfortable rooms, a well-stocked bar and top-end gastro pub. You’ll be spoilt for choice with plenty of quirky and fun, local family attractions.
It’s English Tourism Week 2021 and we are “Here for Tourism” and inspired to introduce you to Staffordshire’s best visitor attractions. Just a handful of attractions nationally are awarded Gold accolades for excellence by Visit England. Here are the ones that shine brightly, were awarded most recently, and are all within a 20-to-35-minute drive of The Dog and Doublet Inn. Come the extra mile to visit the places that go the extra mile to provide the best English breaks.
