Easter is a very special time at the Dog and Doublet, our traditional inn located in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside. All around us, the signs of spring are emerging. Daffodils bloom and the hanging baskets are filled and raised – rather like our pints! We love to hear the soft sound of wood on leather, as the cricket season starts just across the road from us.

Walking has grown massively in popularity over the last couple of years, and people have sought out short breaks where they can indulge in this healthy pastime. Don their walking boots, stride off into the unknown, immerse themselves in nature, whatever the weather and take in stunning views. It’s uplifting and it’s a great appetite builder!

There’s a chill in the air, the nights have drawn in and we’re about to say goodbye autumn and hello December. Excitement for the festive season is starting to build, the Christmas decorations have gone up, the fires are lit, and the fairy lights are twinkling in expectation of the festivities ahead.

It’s that time of year when the kids have returned to school, the harvest is in sight and the nights are drawing in fast. But don’t be downhearted as the summer fades, a great short break and a bit of “you” time is just about to be gin… and we’ll make sure you’ll be ale right on the night, too!
