Eat, drink, be merry and stay

There’s a chill in the air, the nights have drawn in and we’re about to say goodbye autumn and hello December. Excitement for the festive season is starting to build, the Christmas decorations have gone up, the fires are lit, and the fairy lights are twinkling in expectation of the festivities ahead.

Go Out and Stay Inn this Christmas

This year, more than any other, groups of friends, colleagues, families and couples are making plans for Christmas dos, festive get togethers and December date nights. People are foregoing material things in favour of just being together and enjoying each other’s company, in a cosy, centrally located place where you’ll be welcomed with a warm smile and enjoy a hearty meal together. Where you can indulge in a drink or two without worrying about the journey home.

Here at the Dog and Doublet you can eat, drink, be merry and stay!

Fairy lights and festive nights

We’ve drawn up a sumptuous festive fayre menu, mixing the traditional, the local and the inventive with a creative cocktail line up, fine wine list and real ales to get you right in the mood for Christmas. Start the night in our bar with an Espresso Martini, a flute of fizz or local Nelson’s gin and tonic. Keep it local with a pint of Freedom lager or Joules pale ale.

Chef Adam invites you to enjoy white onion and sage soup, ham hock and pistachio terrine, smoked haddock and dill rillettes or red wine poached pear, fig and orange salad to get your festive meal underway. With a tempting choice of roast Staffordshire Turkey, braised beef blade, cod fillets or nut roasts on mains. Leave room for a traditional Christmas pudding, gingerbread cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding, raspberry, almond and sherry trifle or a British cheeseboard washed down with a fine port.

And our Christmas Fayre doesn’t end there. Take a look at our Turkey and Tinsel offers and transform your festive night out into a stay inn! Enjoy our characterful country inn for even longer with our comfortable bedrooms, each with a teddy bear and unique styling - there’s even a four-poster - just a tiptoe away, after a tipple or two.

When the sun rises, your sweet dreams won’t be over. We will set you up for the day with a berry delicious pancake, Full Monty English breakfast, eggs any way you like them, or the breakfast of the Gods – Staffordshire Oatcakes!

Even your dog is very welcome to join in the festivities at The Dog and Doublet Inn. We can lead you to beautiful Staffordshire country walkies to blow the last remnants of indulgence and freshen up before… “Driving home for Christmas”.
